Question of the Day - 10 May 2010

Q:
There are lots of beautiful swimming pools at the casinos in Las Vegas, but can you tell us if any have pools that are open for use by locals? Also, are there changing facilities and/or towels available and are there any charges for using the facilities?
A:

We’ve been monitoring the ever-evolving pool scene here for over three years now and one trend we’ve noticed is an increase in the number of pools open to the general public, usually, but not exclusively, for a fee. The Daydream Pool Club at M Resort especially targets the locals market, and you’ll find specials there. Bare Pool Lounge at Mirage and TAO Beach both have locals/industry parties, and some of the other pools offer locals discounts, especially for special events.

It’s such a huge scene -- we currently have no less than 38 listings in our "Cool Pools" section -- that we can’t list all the details here. We can, however, confirm that most of the topless pools are open to everyone, as are quite a few of the other pools, including the new Liquid pool at Aria, the Beach Club at the Hard Rock, Aliante and Sunset Stations, and the Golden Nugget, just to give a few examples. Those pools that offer poolside gaming are obliged to allow you entry if you intend to gamble, but they’re not obliged to extend the other pool amenities to you and some -- like Wynn and Encore -- police this actively and will not.

For the full lowdown on which pools admit whom, and what kind of amenities admission grants you, check out Cool Pools, where you can search by events, amenities, and much more. Don’t forget to add your own reviews and ratings when you’ve checked somewhere out.
