Question of the Day - 05 August 2010

Q:
I heard a few months back about a Las Vegas movie titled Rough Hustle. I think you even had a link about it on the LVA site. I can't find anything about it now. What happened to it?
A:

Good question!

You're correct, you did read about Rough Hustle on the LVA site (and/or in our monthly newsletter) and we did have a link to the movie trailer on our home page for awhile. In fact, we were given the exclusive to air it before anyone else, including MTV! Anyone who didn't catch it, just click that link to see it on YouTube.

The film's set in downtown Las Vegas (where much of the filming took place) and directed and produced by a former pro blackjack player. The story revolves around a team of smart blue-collar players trying to hit the big time.

It had been awhile since we checked in for a status report, but your question prompted us to contact the producer-director and find out the latest. He informed us that they're almost wrapped up with production and hope to have a viewing copy of the finished movie to Anthony Curtis by the end of this month, so watch LVA for his assessment of what looks to be an interesting, gritty, non-Hollywood take on Las Vegas. The film has already had interest from both L.A. and Las Vegas in terms of theatrical release and they're hoping for national distribution, so with luck you should be able to catch Rough Hustle at a movie theater near you sometime in the not-too-distant future. We'll keep you posted.
