Question of the Day - 24 August 2010

Q:
What became of the Omelet House? Are they still in business? We enjoyed eating at the one across from UNLV but it doesn't exist anymore.
A:

The Omelet House, which opened its first venue at 2160 W. Charleston over 30 years ago, has long been a breakfast favorite with both locals and visitors alike (including ex-President Jimmy Carter, who breakfasted there with Mayor Oscar Goodman and his wife back in 2003).

Two more venues followed, first at 316 North Boulder Highway and then the one you recall at 4680 S. Maryland Parkway by UNLV. Two more followed, including at 6520 Boulder Highway and downtown in the Plaza. The latter opened in June of 2009 but was out of business by November, when the UNLV venue also closed. We're pleased to report that the trio of other Omelet Houses are all still in business, however; click here for the website, where you can find maps and hours for all three, and here for an example menu, which features a lot more than omelets (of which they serve some 30-or-so varieties).
