Question of the Day - 11 January 2011

Q:
I’m a member coming to Las Vegas at the end of January and I want to use the Terrible’s rebate coupon. What do I do?
A:

A staff member recently audited the process and here’s his report.

The first thing you do is log in to LasVegasAdvisor.com. On the page that pops up, at the top, you’ll see the Navigation Menu. Click on Member Rewards Online.

On the page that pops up next, first read the instructions for printing your coupon; most users can print without a problem, but some will have to use a different browser.

Now click on the "Gambling" coupon on the right that offers "$100 in Savings." Again, read the instructions, make sure your printer is on, and print the coupon.

Bring the coupon to the Terrible’s players club booth. There, if you’re not a member of Terrible’s players club, you’ll be signed up. You select a PIN and are given a club card. You also have to show the coupon (which should have your name on it) and ID. Some paperwork is filled out and then you’re set loose on the machines.

I slipped a $100 bill into a $1 machine, with a double-or-nothing plan: Crank up the credit meter to $200 and walk, or lose it all and return to the booth (I got as close as $165, then plummeted to zero).

So I returned to the booth, where I presented my card. The clerk verified that I just lost the $100, loaded up the card with the free play, pulled out a red binder for the LVA promotion, which I signed, handed me a flyer on how to access the free play. I went to a quarter machine, inserted my players card, and followed the prompts to enter my PIN. You have to load the machine with a dollar in order to access the free-play, which is standard for this type of promotion.

As you play, the card reader will transfer the free-play for you and count it down, while the credit meter tallies the credits for the winning hands.

On my 79th hand, with $2.50 left on the card reader and exactly $97.50 on the credit meter, I hit a full house. Since I was playing 7/5 Bonus, that paid me $8.75, bringing the meter up to $106.25.

My last hand was a dud, so subtracting my dollar that loaded up the machine in the beginning, I cashed with $5.25 on the play -- while accruing nearly 1,000 points for my $100 and Terrible’s $100 and getting in more than an hour of stress-free play.

It’s a great deal for members and I, for one, highly recommend that everyone take advantage of it. The coupon is good, so far, through November 2011.

This $100 rebate is just one of the perks that comes with a membership to Las Vegas Advisor; starting at just $37 for an online subscription, your membership also comes with an exclusive monthly newsletter; our famed Member Rewards Book of discounts on buffets, dining, and entertainment, plus gambling free-play and matchplays; and other members-only offers throughout the year. Click the "membership" link for more information and be sure to choose the correct type of subcription for you (online/full membership; U.S., Canadian, or International).
