Any suggestions for places to go as a single person for Valentine's Day, or an anti-Valentine's celebration? I received an email about the M Resort's Singles' Weekend Party but have heard nothing else from other spots.

You're in luck. We don't know whether the economic downturn has had an effect on our collective psyche, but we've never seen as many "anti-Valentine's" events as we're seeing this year in Las Vegas -- they seem to equal or even outnumber the romantic couples options! Most take place Saturday, however; there's less scheduled for Monday, when we recommend you just hit one of the city's numerous happy hours. Or stay home with a Love Sux cake from Retro Bakery ($20; feeds 10; 24 hours notice required).
Here are some of your other options:
- rhumbar at Mirage hosts the "Love Me Not" Anti-Valentine's Day Party, where valentine-less ladies will receive complimentary Moët Champagne from 9 p.m.-midnight and can take part in a variety of anti-Valentine games. Entertainment by DJ Rodney.
- Silverton hosts the "Stupid Cupid" singles mixer at 7 p.m. tonight, with speed dating, a chocolate eating contest, and prizes. Those who participate in the speed dating portion of the evening will receieve free cocktails until the timer ends. This party is for those aged 21-45.
- McFadden's at the Rio hosts the "Kill Cupid Anti-Valentine's Day Bash: tonight, featuring entertainment by Red Abbey from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. There will be a $15 open bar from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. and another $15 for ladies, $25 for guys open bar from 10 p.m.-midnight.
- From 6:30 p.m. tonight Hussong's Cantina at Mandalay Place hosts the "Burn a Hole in My Heart" anti-Valentine's event, with the climax to their hot-salsa eating contest, featuring free salsa tastings, drink specials, and giveaways.
- Lots of restaurants are serving romantic prix-fixe menus, but Social House in Crystals at CityCenter is serving complimentary "Love" and "Hate" menus, so you can take your pick. Both are six courses and $85/person. Call 702/732-7800 for more information or to make a reservation.
- As you mention, M Resort's Hostile Grape is hosting the second annual "As Single As I Wanna Be" Valentine's party Saturday at 7 p.m., with a $20 cover. Ladies wearing sexy red stilettos receive a complimentary bottle of wine while supplies last.
- Blue Martini at Town Square is hosting a "Couples and Singles Mingle" event from 8 p.m. tonight. $5 donations will be collected to benefit the American Heart Association. Each person who donates will receive a raffle ticket to win prizes, including Coach handbags and Tiffany's jewelry.
- Simon at Palms Place hosts the Simon Singles Soirée from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, with food, drinks, prize giveaways, and the chance to take out your frustration on a heart-shaped piñata.
- Feb. 14, at Rockhouse at Imperial Palace, all unescorted ladies will receive complimentary cover and free champagne from 10:30 p.m.-midnight.
