Question of the Day - 21 March 2011

Q:
What's the most expensive "room" one can rent in Las Vegas? When I worked for PSAV (the audio visual company at the Palms) we were always told the Palms had the most expensive - the two-story Hugh Hefner Sky Villa (with the overhang jacuzzi, inside elevator, and rotating bed with mirrors among other amenities). Only $30,000 a night. Is there anything even more expensive, at Caesars Palace, or Planet Hollywood, for example? If that was too much, the Palms had a slew of other specialty suites for just $10,000-$15,000 a night. Oh, one insight I can offer is the majority of the time we (PSAV) were aware of those room being rented, it was for corporate parties.
A:

The Hugh Hefner suite remains the most expensive accommodation that you can rent in Las Vegas, to our knowledge -- the price tag is actually $40,000/night.

Located atop the Palms' "Fantasy Tower," it's 9,000-square-foot two-story villa that features an outdoor, cantilevered Playboy Jacuzzi pool, living room, full bar, media room, dining room, fully equipped gym with sauna and a spa-style treatment room, glass elevator, eight-foot, round rotating bed, pop-up plasma TVs, poker table, and an art collection picked out by Hef himself.

In the current economic climate, we can't see anyone upping the ante on ridiculously priced accommodation anytime soon, but there is an interesting new option if you have money to burn. Rumor, the new boutique adult-only resort opposite the Hard Rock, is available to hire outright for the night for $13,000, subject to availability. With 150 rooms, that actually works out to be a pretty reasonable rate per person if you have enough friends to fill them all, and it's a cool hotel.
