Question of the Day - 03 April 2011

Q:
I was just in Laughlin this last weekend and went into the River Palms. To my surprise the first floor was virtually empty. Did some one just purchase the casino? Or are they updating the casino? Or is their business just down? What’s going on?
A:

No, the River Palms is still owned by Tropicana Entertainment. Did you enter from the River Walk side of the property? According to River Palms administrative assistant Linda Stamatakis, "We are just doing a changeover … nothing is finished." When it is, all slot machines and table games will be on one floor, accessible from the valet-parking entrance and the garage. The lower level, near the River Walk, will hold the Island Buffet, The Lodge, Java Joe’s and a Denny’s – in other words, all the food and beverage offerings. The slots and tables were previously spread about a bit more, Stamatakis says, but the River Palms is "trying to condense everything down to one floor." Unfortunately, it was your bad luck to stumble across a work in progress, it seems.
