Back in 1999, singer Clint Holmes, known for his silky vocals and warm comedic style, made the move from Atlantic City to Las Vegas. It was considered a risky move by some to leave his loyal following back east, but after cutting his teeth at the Golden Nugget, Holmes embarked on a five-year run at Harrah's on the Strip, which named its showroom for him.
In addition to being a popular headliner, Holmes became an active member of the Las Vegas community, working with several local causes, as well as hosting numerous events. He was diagnosed with colon cancer, which he beat, and now also campaigns for colon-cancer awareness.
In September, 2006 Holmes performed his final show at Harrah's, but he still pops up from time to time on the Las Vegas entertainment scene. In 2006 he premiered his self-penned show, Just Another Man, at UNLV’s Judy Bayley Theatre and has subsequently performed one-off shows at Excalibur, the Orleans, and most frequently at the Suncoast, both solo or as part of the "Vocal Soup" group that also includes Susan Anton, Domenick Allen, and Martin Nievera. Click here for his upcoming performance schedule, which includes two nights at the Suncoast in July.
Denise Clemente was a popular Las Vegas performer who appeared at the Stardust and the Hilton, among other venues, as well as touring with Liberace and appearing regularly as a guest on television shows, including "The Tonight Show," "The Merv Griffin Show," "The Dinah Shore Show," and "The Jerry Lewis Telethon."
A call to her agent revealed that these days, the best place to catch her in Las Vegas is at the Bootlegger Bistro, where she performs about once a month (call the venue for details of her next gig). He also confirmed that he'd just booked her a three-night engagement at the Rampart from September 16-18. Here's the link to her website, although we should warn you that you won't find much information there.
