Question of the Day - 08 May 2011

Q:
Now that CityCenter has been open for over a year, can you tell us the occupancy rate of the complex? I'm not speaking of hotel rooms, but rather office space, retail establishments and the like.
A:

CityCenter doesn’t have office space, so that’s one thing MGM Resorts International doesn’t have to worry about. We asked an MGM spokesman about your question, which mainly applies to the Crystals shopping mall. He replied, "We have a small amount of retail space remaining for lease in Crystals. We are currently at 80+ percent occupancy and additional leases are in negotiation. There are no additional restaurants or bars contemplated." So, they're full up on eateries (a confectionary and restaurant in Mandarin Oriental both went bust rather quickly) but still looking for retailers. Know any high-end merchants who might want to relocate to the Las Vegas Strip?
