Question of the Day - 14 May 2011

Q:
What has happened to the Scintas? Are they still performing, and if so, where?
A:

The Scintas are a family of musicians from Buffalo, New York, who perform a musical comedy show that includes tributes to the Rat Pack, Ray Charles, and others, and which traveled the nation successfully for a decade or so before the group decided to make Las Vegas their home in 2000. The Scintas consists of siblings Frank, Joe, and sister Chrissi, who've all been performing since childhood, plus "adopted" Scinta Peter O’Donnell.

The group's first home in Las Vegas was the nightclub at the Hilton, where they opened in 2000 and remained for a year, before moving Laugh Out Loud with the Scintas to the Rio, where it performed until 2006. Their next stop was the Sahara, before coming full circle and returning to the Hilton in 2007, where the show finally closed in March, 2009.

Since then, the group's been back on the road, with occasional Las Vegas performances. In fact, there's a reason we chose to run this answer today, because you can catch them tonight at the Suncoast! The show's at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $29.95 (a bargain, seeing as their previous Vegas shows had tickets priced around the $60-$70 mark).

The group will be back at the Suncoast September 24-25, then for a Christmas show December 2-4. For the rest of their upcoming performance schedule, which includes gigs in New York, Ohio, and Michigan, click the link.
