Question of the Day - 19 June 2011

Q:
I'm a very poor reader. Can I get Decide to Play Great Poker on tape?
A:

Right now, Annie Duke's new title, Decide to Play Great Poker is not available as an audio book, but we have just entered discussions with a company that's potentially interested in buying the rights to that format, so we'll keep you posted if the negotiations produce any results.

In the meantime, if you're an e-Book aficionado, Decide is available for $9.99 for the Amazon Kindle, which has a text-to-speech feature that reads books out loud. The current writer hasn't experienced this, but was told by a colleague that it's an electronic voice, and not the melodious tones of your favorite actor, just to warn you. Still, this is hardly bedtime reading matter.

The whole audio-book market is an arena we've barely pursued, not least because of the whole e-Book revolution, which makes it tough enough keeping up with all the various electronic formats and readers that keep hitting the market. The only two Huntington Press titles that are available as audio books are Cullotta and The Battle for Las Vegas, both by Dennis Griffin. Each is available from a company called Books in Motion as a download ($14.95) or on CD ($28.99). Click the links for more details.
