Question of the Day - 07 July 2011

Q:
Back in the early to mid eighties, there was a Rod Stewart sound and lookalike that played on weekends in the lounge at the Stardust. The lounge was always packed and he was absolutely terrific and sounded so much like Rod. Can you tell me his name and what ever happened to him? Thanks.
A:

We actually can't tell you very much about Rob Hanna, who used to perform as Rod Stewart at the Stardust.

One artists' database described how he is "based in the western U.S. and [has] performed for almost 25 years throughout the U.S. and Canada," but we're not sure how old that post is. We could find no record of him having performed since 1991 and, although he is listed with numerous talent agencies online, none that we looked at had any record of any upcoming engagements.

There's a tribute page on Facebook run by a fan, but there's not much information there and nothing's been posted since April. As the "fan' hasn't even spelled the artist's name correctly, we're not sure how reliable we'd consider any information posted there.

The only other thing we can do is provide a link to some pretty bad footage of Rob Hanna on YouTube performing "Hot Legs" at the Los Angeles County Fair in 1991.
