Question of the Day - 22 September 2011

Q:
Any news on the opening of the Margaritaville Casino? I'm bringing my wife to Vegas next month to celebrate our anniversary. We are looking forward to playing at Margaritaville since it's always five o'clock in Las Vegas.
A:

The Margaritaville Casino, in the Flamingo Las Vegas, will be open "within the first week of October," says Caesars Entertainment spokeswoman Debbie Munch. Accessible directly from the Strip, the casino-within-a-casino will "offer 22 gaming tables, 220 slot machines and the centerpiece 'Five O’Clock Somewhere' bar."

This will be the first Margaritaville-branded casino. Another one is under construction in Biloxi, Miss. A couple of years back, a deal was announced to franchise Trump Marina, in Atlantic City, as a Margaritaville hotel-casino. However, the would-be buyer (Richard Fields) lacked the financing to close the purchase, even after negotiating the price downwards several times. Rather than being exclusive to any one company, the Margaritaville brand is available for franchise to the highest bidder, so it could come to any casino market near you.
