No, Terminal Three at McCarran International Airport has not been put on hold. It is scheduled to open in June 2012. Terminal Two will then be closed and eventually be torn down. However, demolition is "not in our immediate plans," according to McCarran spokesman Chris Jones.
International carriers – along with several domestic-only airlines -- will move to Terminal Three, although some will simply perform ticketing and baggage-claim service there but continue to depart from Terminal D (connected to Terminal Three via monorail). Hawaiian Airlines*, Continental* and United* are tentatively scheduled to route passengers through Terminal Three but fly out of the D terminal. The airlines currently slated to move all operations to Terminal Three are: Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines*, British Air, Condor, Frontier*, Jet Blue*, Korean Airlines, Volaris, Philippine Airlines, Sun Country*, Sunwing, Thomas Cook, Virgin America*, Virgin Atlantic, WestJet and XL Airways.
"Obviously," Jones adds, "the list is subject to change pending airline consolidations, new carriers to McCarran, discontinued service or whatever other unexpected things may occur over the next seven-plus months."
