Question of the Day - 18 December 2011

Q:
Does Jerry Lewis still live in Vegas?
A:

To the best of our knowledge, yes. Lewis has been quiet since September 2010, when the Muscular Dystrophy Association disinvited him from its annual telethon. Lewis had been a telethon fixture since 1966. However, in the process of downsizing the Labor Day Weekend event (held at South Point Hotel Casino & Spa) to six hours, organizers also gave Lewis the heave-ho. (See "Today's News" archives for details on that saga.)

That’s a relatively minor setback for a man who has survived Type I diabetes, three heart attacks, prostate cancer, viral meningitis, pulmonary fibrosis and chronic back pain. The latter is the lingering aftereffect of a tumble taken from the stage of the Sands in 1965. A new documentary on Lewis, Method to the Madness premieres on the Encore premium-cable channel on Dec. 17.
