Question of the Day - 21 December 2011

Q:
As a regular reader of QofD, I know about the famous big slot wins at Excalibur and Orleans, but what are some more recent "Megabucks" slot wins this year (and where)?
A:

CityCenter may have experienced some adversities this year, but 2011 was a lucky year at Aria, where Megabucks hit twice, first on January 21, when an anonymous player hit the jackpot for $12,768,933.87, and then again on April 22, when another unnamed winner scooped $10,636,897.78. (Coincidentally, another player hit a Money Madness jackpot for $3,206,360.40 at Aria on November 28.)

On June 15, an unidentified player at the Grand Sierra in Reno hit the Megabucks jackpot to win $10,379,294.92.

Update 29 December 2011
Interestingly, after this QoD ran we learned that the first of the two Aria Megabucks wins was the subject of a dispute between two co-workers, one of whom claimed he'd "taught" the other how to play and that she gambled with his $6. A Post-It note was cited as evidence of a legal contract between the two. We understand the pair has now settled any rival claims to the $12.7 million jackpot for an undislosed amount.
