Question of the Day - 29 December 2011

Q:
Any idea if the music played with the fireworks on New Year's night will be played on any of the radio stations in town?
A:

The theme for the America's Party fireworks spectacular on the Strip this year is "Dance -- Las Vegas" and the 8 minute, 36 second pyrotechic display, being launched from the rooftops of the Stratosphere, MGM Grand, Tropicana, Caesars, Planet Hollywood, TI, Venetian, and Aria, will be accompanied by a soundtrack featuring Sal Soul Orchestra, LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer, and Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Adele, and a finale from ZZ Top's version of "Viva Las Vegas".

We contacted the organizers and were informed that local FM stations KOMP 92.3 and KXPT 97.1 will carry the soundtrack live, while local television stations will also cover the display from numerous locations throughout the valley, so you don't have to be on the Strip to feel part of the party.

In addition, if you are on the Strip, the Cosmopolitan will be screening Coldplay and Stevie Wonder's New Year's Eve concerts live Stripside on the resort's digital marquee, so there's definitely no shortage of good -- and free! -- music for this year's celebrations.

Downtown's 4th Annual TributePalooza New Year’s Eve bash will feature performances from Steel Panther and Rock Sugar, plus music from 10 tribute bands, including AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, U2, Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, INXS, No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Van Halen.
