Question of the Day - 22 January 2012

Q:
I understand that there was a piece in a 1993 issue of LVA about Jean Scott’s famous 50-day stay in Vegas (with 49 nights comped). The archives only go back to 1999, though. Any way that you could re-post that article? Thanks!
A:

Your slightest wish! Although, as you correctly observe, the LVA newsletter archives only go back as far as 1999 online and, it turns out, Anthony Curtis owns the only remaining hard copy in-house of the March, '93 issue and has somehow managed since to get the back cover, where "Couponomy" concludes, stuck to something that ripped off part of the text! Hence, the delay in running this answer, which a few of you have commented on: We had to wait until Anthony had time to take a look and try to fill in the gaps.

He's now done that -- see below -- so, without further ado, please feel free to click on the photo caption below to access a scan of this vintage article about the legendary Queen of Comps.

It's been a long while since A.C. edited this piece, but the missing elements aren't crucial, and here's a best-guess stab at what's missing:

"... in both of our names, as that ensures the doubling of any free-room invitation."

"... it was over Christmas weekend, and comping over Christmas is getting more rare, as Vegas is becoming more family-friendly."
