Question of the Day - 23 February 2012

Q:
Is anything special happening in and/or around Las Vegas, or are there any decent promotions for Leap Year Day (February 29th)?
A:

Not so as you'd notice, or at least not that anyone's promoting right now. Las Vegas usually jumps all over any excuse for a party, but we have to say that to date, there's been little word of upcoming Leap Year Day promotions or offers, aside from the odd wedding package here and there.

Still, here's what little we've come across so far, and expect additional point mulitipliers and other casino promos to be announced over the next few days -- check "Today's News" for updates:

  • If your birthday falls on Feb. 29, enjoy the "leapling" free admission offer from Madame Tussaud's on Leap Day. Just show your ID at the box office.
  • PBR Rock Bar at Planet Hollywood is always up for any excuse to celebrate, so on Feb. 29th they're offering an all-day happy hour, with $3 drafts, 2-for-1 well drinks, and $5 Jager Bombs and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey from 8 a.m. until close.
  • Taking a different tack, the Flightlinez zipline attraction on Fremont Street is marking next Wednesday with a "Take a Leap to Find a Cure" fundraiser, with all revenues from zipline rides on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from noon to midnight being donated to JDRF, the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
  • Rhumbar at the Mirage will offer $4 drink specials from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., including Coors Light, rum punch, and Stoli cocktails.
  • In case you're still thirsty, Rockhouse at the IP will host an open bar from 9 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 29, priced at $10 for ladies and $20 for guys (available for half the price for "broke college students" with a valid ID.)
  • For the gamblers among you, from 4 to 10 p.m. on Leap Day, Silverton invites patrons to play their favorite machine and win up to $100 in free slot play, with 1,000 winners to be randomly chosen and more than $9,000 in free play up for grabs.

And that, at the time of this writing, is all that's been announced so far.
