Question of the Day - 01 March 2012

Q:
Who serves the best burger in Las Vegas? Reader Poll feedback.
A:

Back on 2/25/2012, we ran the results of our epic "Best Burger" Reader Poll, which found Inn-N-Out the easy winner, but plenty of other votes for the competition. We received such an excellent response with your choices of "Other," or why you'd picked the burger you did, that there was insufficient space to do justice to all the feedback when we ran the results. So, as promised, here it is:

  • I'm from a big city with a lot of burger joints. I can get a burger anywhere. I like being in Vegas and enjoying all the diversity of food that's offered. Fun poll since most of my friends who answered it had very different opinions from mine :-)

  • We were in Vegas last week and only had time to sample the Heart Attack Grill. We had a great time, like how audacious the place is and would return at the next opportunity. The menu reminds me a lot of 5 Guys and the prices are very reasonable.

  • Bradley Ogden, hands down. It was originally recommended by a friend, who learned of it from one of the bartenders at Mesa Grill, who said their burger was better than Mesa's! [Ed: Enjoy while you can; this restaurant's life has been extended, but it's due to close by the end of the year.]

  • Although I believe it was the "original" burger bar in Vegas, Burger Bar continues to by my favorite even after trying many others. It's not that the others aren't good (the new KGB was in serious contention here and is also highly recommended, as is Le Burger Brasserie), it's that Burger Bar has more and better toppings, and the burgers just seem to taste better. It doesn't hurt that they have a great selection of microbrews and hot waitresses.

  • I voted for "In-N-Out. Sure, I 've had some amazingly good burgers at some of the places listed over the last 30 years of visiting your town. For the most part, those are menu choices that you decide to get when you are "going out" for a meal. However when you or someone in your group says "Hey, let's grab a burger and fries" for lunch or dinner, well, need I say more?

  • I live in Chicago. I know burgers (and of course pizza lol), there's a "burger joint" on every other corner selling them here. We do not even consider it a trip to Vegas without going to In-N-Out" there is NO better burger for the "experience." The simplicity of the menu is genius . We have had "Five Guys" open up a number of places here recently. Seriously That's their "A" game? Overpriced and not anywhere near as tasty.

  • Bellagio Cafe serves a burger that tastes straight off your backyard grill. No fancy 20 gourmet burger menu, but they'll put whatever you want on it, and the meat patty is huge.

  • I’ve been to most of the other burger places in town, but it all comes back to Rum Runner on 6658 Boulder Hwy. Found this place when going to see Future Stars of Wrestling on Friday nights in the same strip mall. The burger is the best in town by far, and at a fraction of the price of any of the other places. I’ve had friends and family in town, and after they hit the Strip I take them to Rum Runner and everyone has loved their burgers.

  • Hash House A Go Go (Plaza).

  • Fudrruckers Buffalo burger (the Orleans).

  • The Pub at Monte Carlo.

  • BLT Burger at the Mirage has a great veggie falafel burger.

  • The burgers at the El Cortez are the best. They are the juiciest and tastiest I have ever had. They are so good that you don't even need any garnish on them.

  • We don’t often eat burgers, but when we do we enjoy them at the Café Cortez. We have the Southwest Burger with chili, shredded cheddar, onions, and jalepenos. They are great. You need to try one when you're next downtown!

  • I think the best burger is served at Morton’s. My husband is a hamburger freak and though it is very expensive, he can’t get enough of them.

  • Fatburger at Red Rock. Best turkey burger I ever had!

  • Crown & Anchor on Trop. has the best burger I ever have had. We had the Cheeseburger in Paradise the day before at Margaritaville. Good. $36 with drinks each, plus tips. Cown & Anchor lunch deal: won $5 and had their English burger, with chips, for free. Tipped the young lady $15 and had the best burger ever.

  • Burger Bar in Mandalay Place my favorite hamburger in the world (Kobe beef with bacon).

  • KGB (Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers) at Harrah’s gets my vote.

  • I don't eat cow, but Big Dog's on Sahara serves up a good turkey burger.

  • My wife and I think the cheeseburger at Kahunaville at TI is the best burger we have had in Las Vegas or anywhere. We make it a point to go there every time we are in Las Vegas (usually about twice a year). It is 10 oz. patty that is easily shared as they give you a big mound of fantastic French fries with it and they also have a wonderful salad. Our criteria for any restaurant in Vegas is would we go back as there are so many good places to eat. We have not only gone back, but have had the cheeseburger at Kahunaville numerous times over any other meal/restaurant.

  • I voted for In-N-Out, but then I thought about the burger at Ellis. It is truly terrific and a great value - just doesn't have drive thru. If you use one of LVA's membership coupons, it is really a deal.

  • Tiffany's at White Cross drugstore.

  • I like the Burger Bar at Mandalay Place. The burgers are great, there's a seemingly infinite choice of toppings, and the milkshakes are outstanding! Plus, it's got sort of a sports-bar vibe. On my next trip to Vegas, it'll be where I go for my relaxing, just-got-here, let's-celebrate-being-in-Vegas meal.

  • My vote is for Hooters. Best burgers I've had in town.

  • We were very surprised how good the hamburgers were at Tommy Rockers (4275 Dean Martin Dr. -- there's another one in Henderson. Their hamburgers were fresh and juicy and you have lots of choices to pick from. They had a half-price menu starting at 2 p.m., Mon-Fri, when we were there and we were also allowed to use our Groupon! It is a lot cheaper than any fast food chain and so much better tasting.

  • LOVE In-n-Out--there just is no other place that serves the made to order quality for the price. Order a Neapolitan shake with that cheeseburger, you won't be disappointed.

  • Grand Luxe Cafe in the Venetian. Cooked to order, fair-sized burger, outdoor-grilled taste. None better. Reasonably priced. Comes with choice of side order.

  • There are a lot of good, flavorful burgers available now days, but really, no contest: In-N-Out gives you great fresh ingredients, consistently well prepared, and at a terrific price. This is the definition of value.

  • Burger Bar at Mandalay Place does the best veggie burger. The special combo of ingredients tastes fresh and yummy without missing any meat (and it's nothing like those frozen veggie patties).

  • Burger Brasserie at Paris, because of the MRB coupon I have made this a regular Las Vegas stop. You can find a great burger place in every city, but you can't always get a good deal.

  • Grand Luxe Cafe at the Venetian - The MAX Burger. It's meat on meat, with short ribs & bacon on a burger, with onions & mushrooms, all blanketed with cheese. I don't eat burgers often, but this one probably would fit in the lineup at Heart Attack Grill, given that it's an artery clogger on a plate.

  • The burger at The Orleans cafe is the bomb. It's like eating a steak on a bun. Best burger I've had in a long time.

  • I’ve tried most of the gourmet burger places and they are OK, but the burger I still like the best comes from "Big Hurt’s" food trailer in Carnival Court at Harrah’s. Just meat, cheese, and a cheap bun, but it tastes great and hits the spot every time. A bartender told me about the place when I was playing bad VP and watching the game in the sports book.

  • I voted for Fatburger, but just as easily could have voted for the Hard Rock Café (surprised that it wasn’t on the list). I probably frequent Fatburger’s more when I am in Las Vegas.

  • While In & Out Burger is far from "gourmet," for value and taste it is supreme. Also, it can be eaten in one sitting and you don't leave feel like you have consumed enough food to feed a family for three days.
