Question of the Day - 12 March 2012

To be sure, to be sure. With St. Patrick's Day and March Madness coinciding, it's guaranteed to be an even-bigger-than-normal party weekend in Las Vegas. Today we're focusing on the former; check out tomorrow's QoD for the hoop highlights.

Parties & Food:

• Las Vegas being Las Vegas, of course Mexican bars will be celebrating the Irish festival, among them Cabo Wabo Cantina, whose special Mexican twist consists of green margaritas, along with the more traditional green beer, plus a special 100-ounce green-beer tower for $55.
• PBR Rock Bar & Grill will also be serving green margaritas and green beer, along with green daiquiris. They will also have 80-ounce Green Guitars and 100-ounce Super Yards for $38.
• Rockhouse at Imperial Palace will also be going "green" for the holiday, with green frozen pina coladas, $5 green beers, $5 Irish car bombs, $20 64-ounce Super Beers, $35 80-ounce Guitar Beers, and $38 100-ounce Super Yards.
• LBS : A Burger Joint at Red Rock will be serving tradional favorives, including Corned Beef and Cabbage Burgers for $12.50, and $5 pints of green beer, Irish car bombs, and shots of Jameson.
• Ri Ra Las Vegas celebrates its one-year anniversary with a two-day St. Patrick's Day festival. The party starts March 16 with a live Irish band at 5 p.m., and will feature giveaways, traditional menu items, and Irish dancers. The party continues on March 17 with the Six Nations Rugby match between England and Ireland at 10 a.m., a parade through Mandalay Bay casino at 11 a.m., and more live music thoughout the day. (Saturday there's a $10 cover charge.)
• Simon Restaurant & Lounge at Palms Place will be offering a St. Patrick's Day Hangover Brunch on March 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a menu featuring Green Eggs & Ham, Lucky Charms treats, Corned Beef hash with poached eggs, and more, for $39.50. • P.J. Clarke’s at The Forum Shops at Caesars will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with festive food such as Corned Beef and Cabbage and Corned Beef Sandwiches, paired with an endless flow of Guinness.
• Well-known Celtic celeb Carmen Electra hosts the party at Chateau Terrace at Paris, while her equally-Gaelic ex, Dennis Rodman, will be playing host at Tabu Ultra Lounge inside the MGM Grand.
• Rhumbar at the Mirage will be celebrating with green eggs and ham, green beer, and other traditional Irish drinks.
• And, if you're in the mood for an Italian-Irish take on things, head on over to Casa Di Amore, on E. Tropicana, where you'll receive a free shamrock martini when you purchase a dinner entree, plus the usual free limo ride from the Strip, and live entertainment until 1:30 a.m.

Entertainment:

• The Dublin Down Festival, featuring Flogging Molly, will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center on March 16 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $24.50.
• Finnegan’s Wake perform in J.C. Wooloughan’s at the JW Marriott at noon, followed by Nick Matera at 2 p.m. in the pub, and Celtic Rockers at 4 p.m. on the patio. Arms of America perform at 9 p.m. on the patio and Okay Jim take the stage 9 p.m. in the pub. $20 for full access to all venues.
• From March 15-18, the 46th Annual Southern Nevada Sons of Erin St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival will be taking place in Henderson, featuring a car show, live entertainment, and food and drink. Admission is free.
• O'Sheas hosts its final St. Patty's Day Block Party with live music, food, and drinks. Have a good one. You will be missed!
• The Young Dubliners kick off St. Patty's Day on Friday at Body English inside the Hard Rock. Tickets are $20.
• And this year see the 4th Annual Fremont Street Experience St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl, comprising 12 hours of bands, shows, and drink specials. The event's free to attend, but you must RSVP in advance to get your wristband.
