Question of the Day - 26 April 2012

Q:
I have a photo (that I can send you) of an ad in Entertainment Weekly for "Pawn Stars". It shows the guys in front of the Four Queens, except it looks like the marquee has been changed to read Four Kings. What's up with that?
A:

We found the image you referred to (see below) and made some calls, but they didn't yield much information.

We called first to Gold and Silver Pawn, the downtown pawnbroker's where the popular History Channel reality show is set, but when we finally got through, we were hung-up on. We left a message for the filming department at the Fremont Street Experience, but they were on a long shoot and didn't get back to us in time. If we hear anything from that direction, we'll post an "Update."

Finally, we placed a call to the Four Queens, who confirmed that the property had served as a backdrop for an official publicity shoot for the show, but that no signage had been altered, not a bulb touched -- the witty "Four Kings" set-up was executed (quite well, we must say) via the magic of Photoshop after the event, and the first the hotel even knew about it was when they saw the ad themselves.

L-R: Rick Harrison, Chumlee, Corey Harrison, and Richard Harrison, a.k.a. the Pawn Stars. Photo appears courtesy of History Channel.
