Question of the Day - 03 July 2012

Q:
I will be in Vegas on the Fourth of July. Can you tell me, if anything special will be going on and the schedule for the fireworks?
A:

We've been inundated with requests for information about July 4 events, so here's the lowdown. It's always a huge weekend in the Las Vegas calendar, and there will be food and drink specials all over town, but what follows are the highlights regarding events and fireworks displays:

  • Station Casinos will again host the largest fireworks show in Las Vegas on the 4th of July. The nine-minute display will emanate from Aliante, Texas, GVR, Red Rock, and Fiesta Rancho, shortly after 9 p.m.
  • The Annual 4th of July celebration in Henderson will take place at Mission Hills Park at 5:30 p.m. This is a free all-ages event that features three stages of live music and a fireworks show that includes an 18-minute display that kicks off at 9 p.m.
  • Celebrate near the Cali. border with a fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m. out at Primm. The prime viewing location will be behind Buffalo Bill's, within the Star of the Desert Arena parking lot.
  • North Las Vegas hosts the annual Independence Day Jubilee, with gates at 5 p.m. and a lineup of entertainment featuring live music from Franky Perez and Sleepy Brown from 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
  • Downtown on Fremont Street, the Viva Vision fireworks shows run after the regularly scheduled Viva Vision shows at 11 p.m., midnight, and 1 a.m.
  • If you're not in town for the 4th, you can still catch Caesars' display at 9:15 p.m. on July 7th, best viewed from the rooftop of the Roman Tower.

Other notable events include:

  • Encore Beach Club hosts a free pool party for locals, with music from Dada Life, plus a hot-dog cookout and a special holiday menu.
  • The Riviera's hosting a Fourth of July pool party, featuring a DJ, an outdoor barbecue, $1 Miller High Life bottles (10 cents from every bottle will be donated to veterans' charities), $15 buckets of Bud or Bud Light, a bikini fashion show, and half-off food at the pool for veterans and active-duty military with valid ID.
  • There will be big patio parties at Rhumbar, PRB Rockbar, Senor Frogs, and Cabo Wabo, with food and drink specials, while Tao Beach is hosting a "BBQ and Bikinis" party, with a $5,000 cash prize to the hottest bikini bod.
