In brief, yes and yes. Linq construction – including its Ferris wheel – is well underway. O’Shea’s is being demolished and there will be some crimping of your style at the Flamingo. Fortunately, the Flamingo work only affects the Margaritaville area of the hotel-casino, at its northernmost end. As Caesars Entertainment spokeswoman Leslie Thuet told us, "The Flamingo sidewalk in front of the three Margaritaville Casino entrances will be closed Monday, July 9, through Labor Day weekend. The closure will allow for the expansion of the 5 O’Clock Somewhere bar."
It’s a good thing you didn’t book your stay at Imperial Palace. Caesars had previously announced that "guests may experience construction noise, dusty surfaces and intermittent utility disruptions around the property." Just what you want on your vacation, right? Unfortunately, Caesars is badly strapped for money these days and clearly can’t afford to close Imperial Palace outright while the work is being done.
Then again, you might want to re-book that reservation: On July 9, Caesars announced a Super Summer Sale at all its U.S. casinos, with Flamingo rates starting at $38 and Bally’s rooms from $33 upward. Paris-Las Vegas has rooms for $56, and prices at Planet Hollywood are comparable. Those quotes, of course, don’t include taxes, but at least if it’s Caesars you can be assured that you’re not going to be sandbagged with "resort fees," that despicable Vegas practice from which Caesars abstains, to its eternal credit.
