Question of the Day - 05 August 2012

Q:
With the opening of the new Mob Museum downtown, are there any tours offered with shuttle service from and to the Strip?
A:

Strangely enough, the Las Vegas Mob Tour, which has been going strong for several years now, takes in neither the Mob Museum downtown, nor the recently revamped and upgraded Las Vegas Mob Atttraction at the Tropicana, both of which we can recommend, for different reasons.

If your concern is just about getting downtown to the Mob Museum from the Strip and back, and you don't want to drive or take a cab, you have a number of options.

  • The RTC's SDX (Strip) and Downtown Express bus routes both stop at the Mob Museum. Click for schedules and route maps.

  • Big Bus Tours, the open-top double-decker sightseeing buses, have a 24-hour "hop on, hop off" pass that includes a stop at the Mob Museum. The pass is $31.50 for adults, $16.20 for a child, or $76.50 for a family ticket.

  • The final option we were able to find is Pink Jeep Tours, which include a stop at the Mob Museum in the City Tour, which is $84.75 per person. It starts off at the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and includes stops on the Strip, at Gold & Silver Pawn, and at the Fremont Street Experience.

Some reader feedback:
  • "Comment to QofD: You are right-on. The bus system RTC is the cheapest and faster way to the downtown Mob Museum. Except at rush hour, even the local (non-express) is barely 20 min. and dirt-cheap compared to taxis or whatever. Unless you are handicapped, it's an easy walk barely 2 blocks beyond Fremont St "Plaza". Also, reasonably-priced parking is just next door to it. Once inside, it is handicap-friendly with special elevator service between all floors for the handicapped. Keep promoting it. It's a great attraction!"
