It was back in July 2011 that we sadly reported the closure of Rosemary's, a locals' favorite on W. Sahara that made the "Essential 50" in the (inaugural) 2011 edition of our Eating Las Vegas restaurant guide.
Rosemary's was our pick as "Local Corner" for the July 2002 issue of the LVA newsletter, in which Anthony Curtis waxed lyrical about their signature Texas barbecued shrimp with bleu cheese, the lamb chops with olive mashed potatoes, and even the "ridiculous dessert assortment" (coming from a man who preferred raw meat to candy, even as a child).
Fast forward nine years and we found ourselves reporting the closure of this long-time favorite, a victim of the recession alongside other seemingly untouchable venues, like Ruth's Chris and Fellini's.
Your query is timely, however, as the good news is that Rosemary's is set to return! We learned this only last week, when R-J gossip columnist Norm! [sic.] reported that owners Wendy and Michael Jordan (no, not that Michael Jordan) would be reopening their restaurant as part of the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company's renovation of the Reed Whipple Cultural Center on Las Vegas Blvd. North, a project that will also include 499-seat theater.
That's as much as we know for the time being, but we're excited to hear about the return of this locals' favorite, particularly those shrimp, so we'll be monitoring the news for updates and will keep you posted.
