Ah, yes. We, too, were intrigued when we first heard about the Zombie Apocalypse Store, which opened about a year ago -- and then we were excited, when we discovered that it's located right around the corner from the LVA/Huntington Press offices! Naturally, we had to go check it out.
One of the more unusual retail outlets in Las Vegas, it is, according to the website, the world's first and only zombie apocalypse store, and boasts a veritable smorgasbord of survival must-haves, from freeze-dried pet foods to gas masks, and from stun guns (pink or black) to bumper stickers ("Humans -- the Other White Meat"). They even boast a Zombie Response Vehicle these days (you may see it around town).
The staff is apparently human and pleasantly un-scary, and it's a great spot to pick up an alternative gift for that hard-to-buy-for person on your Christmas list -- how about a mayday emergency poncho or a "NOT INFECTED" t-shirt?
Located at 3420 Spring Mountain Road, the website (which you can visit for online-shopping needs, if you can't make it in person), explains the company ethos as follows: "Remember that 'Zombie' is a metaphor for many things. Some of those things could be earthquakes, tornadoes, any natural disasters, the Government, or anything that you think you and your family should prepare yourselves for - or against. We thrive on contact and opinions from our customers. Please contact us with ANY input."
So, there you have it.
