Super Sunday is one of the biggest events in the Las Vegas calendar, this being the only state where you can legally bet on the game and all that. Plus, we don't need much of an excuse to party.
When it comes to the Big Game, as we shall henceforth euphemistically refer to it to avoid upsetting the NFL, there will be festivities all over town at bars, restaurants, strip clubs, and people's front rooms/backyards; all of the main organized parties will be team-neutral however, at least in theory, since no one wants to eliminate half their potential customer base.
No one, that is, apart from a few dedicated bars around town that specifically pin their loyalty to one team, year in, year out, Super Bowl or no Super Bowl. We list these team-affiliated bars at our sister site, LVASports.com, and we update the list each year.
Not every team is represented by a bar in Las Vegas although some, like the Chargers, have multiple establishments rooting for them -- in their case, no less than nine! The 49ers are also well represented, so if you desire to be around your own, and only your own, then your best bet is to pick one of the four bars that will specifically be rooting for San Francisco. These are all on the west side of town (well, Timbers is pretty far northwest):
So, it looks like you're pretty well catered for, as a San Fran fan; Ravens followers have much slimmer pickin's, with no dedicated bars that we're aware of. If you're a Ravens fan AND a seafood lover, however, then you're in luck, as Crab Corner (corner of Flamingo and Eastern), which bills itself as a Maryland Seafood House and is a BIG supporter of the Ravens, will be celebrating on Super Sunday with all-you-can-eat crab, shrimp, and sides, plus all-you-can-drink beer, for $85/person. You need to purchase a ticket in advance and according to their Facebook page these are selling out fast, so go get yours now if you're a hungry Ravens fan looking for a home for the game.
The only other option we know of for Baltimore supporters is LBS, the high-end/eco-friendly burger joint at Red Rock, which is allegedly a Ravens establishment. However, when we called last night to see what awesome festivities they had planned for the big day, the girl who answered the phone said, "Nothing special -- maybe some extra snacks," which doesn't sound like much of a party. Then again, she didn't sound like much of a Ravens fan; in fact, she sounded like she had no clue what we were even talking about. As she was working at 5 p.m. on a Thursday, game time probably isn't her shift, so with luck there will be something more exciting than "extra snacks," but don't bank on it.
Good luck to both teams, and all who wager on them!
P.S. Don't forget to catch the trailers for Life on the Line, the much-acclaimed sports-betting documentary that premieres on Sunday, currently streaming exclusively on our home page. The third and final preview goes live this morning and you can catch the previous two by clicking here. The cast of real-life characters reads like a "Who's Who" of sports betting and we'll be posting details of how to download/stream the complete film on Sunday, so keep an eye on "Today's News."
