Question of the Day - 27 May 2013

Q:
How many people come to Las Vegas for a three-day weekend like this one?
A:

Really, who knows? The LVCVA puts out the numbers every holiday and this weekend the estimate is 328,000 visitors. Advance bookings, historical counts, and other metrics are used to form the estimates and they're usually in the ballpark with the final official tallies. We've been watching these totals for Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, -- almost any three-day weekend -- for years, and the number tends to land between 290,000 and 320,000. This weekend's 328K is as high as we've seen for a while, which falls in line with the rising visitor counts of late. Bottom line: The city is packed. Wherever you are, have a great Memorial Day.
