Question of the Day - 17 July 2013

Q:
I heard that Binions is opening a King's Ransom Elvis Museum. Any word on how much it will cost to see it and what is in it.
A:

The King's Ransom is billed as a multi-million dollar exhibit of 100% authentic artifacts personally owned by Elvis Presley. It's the largest privately owned collection of Elvis memorabilia outside of Graceland, and includes such items as the King's 1977 Lincoln Mark V, stage- and film-warn wardrobe items, jewelry, guns, badges, rare private photographs and home movies, and the Bible that graced Elvis' nightstand when he died.

The owner's intention is to preserve and document Presley's history and present it in an entertaining format for as many people around the world as possible to enjoy, so it's a traveling exhibit. Back in 2010, The King's Ransom enjoyed a stint at Imperial Palace (now the Quad), which coincided with what would have been Presley's 75th birthday, and now it's returning to Sin City, this time to Binion's downtown.

The collection was due to be unveiled on July 4, but apparently they're running a little behind schedule. The last we heard, the opening had been postponed until this week, but when we called the hotel, there was still no firm date, although security confirmed that it's being built as we write. Watch Today's News for updates, including hours and admission prices -- back when it was at the IP, the entry was $10, and the show's Facebook page seems to indicate that's remained the same.
