Question of the Day - 23 September 2013

Q:
What's up with the green lights on the roof of the Palazzo?
A:

For a week, running until today, Monday, September 23, the exterior lights of Venetian and Palazzo have been colored green to celebrate the latest "green" accolade awarded to the properties (we trust that they are using LED bulbs). Catch it while you can!

In March 2010, Venetian and Sands Expo Center were awarded Gold LEED certification, which together with Silver-certified Palazzo, make this largest contiguous LEED-certified building in the world. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to set a benchmark for design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. Like Caesars Entertainment's Code Green program, and similar initiatives in place at MGM Mirage properties, Sands' ECO360° Global Sustainability Program promotes sustainable water, energy, cleaning, recycling, and waste-management policies property-wide -- click the link for more details.

The latest area to receive official outside recognition at Venetian/Palazzo encompasses the massive convention and expo facilities, including the Sands Expo Center, which have been honored as being the first venue in the world to receive the advanced "Level Two" ASTM International (formerly American Society for Testing and Materials) industry certification specifically for environmentally sustainable meeting and events spaces.
