Question of the Day - 11 November 2013

Q:
I heard there are some casinos that offer free bingo. Is that true?
A:

It’s true! While bingo has vanished from the Strip, minus a monthly drag-queen PRIDE fundraiser session at Circus Circus, which does sound like fun (a recent shortlived dalliance with a bingo room at the Riviera ended not long after it began), it’s still a popular game among residents, especially the senior crowd, and a number of "locals" casinos not only offer regular sessions (see our Bingo Room listings) but even free games. In fact, if you’re prepared to get up early, there’s free bingo somewhere every single day of the week in Las Vegas, except Wednesdays (unless you’re a senior, in which case it's wall-to-wall).

  • Sunday: 7:30 a.m. session at Texas Station; 10 $100 games (same applies to all Station free bingo sessions)
  • Monday: 7:30 a.m. Red Rock, Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho; 9 a.m. South Point (10 $100 games); 11 a.m. Silver Nugget (seniors 50+ only); 5 p.m. Jerry’s Nugget (10 $50 games)
  • Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. Santa Fe Station, Boulder Station, Green Valley Ranch
  • Wednesday: 11 a.m. Silver Nugget (50+ only)
  • Thursday: 7:30 a.m. Sunset, Palace, and Texas Stations
  • Friday: 9 a.m. South Point
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m Gold Coast; 10 $100 games

The only stipulation for all these sessions (aside from the Silver Nugget) is that you’re a member of the relevant players club and present your card at the desk in the bingo room. Note that some sessions are very popular, so arrive early if you want to bag a good seat.

As an aside, if you’re looking for something a little different, the notorious Double Down Saloon offers free monthly Punk Rock Bingo* sessions at 10 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month -- check their event calendar for udpates.

*No, we’re not sure what "punk rock bingo" is, either, but now that we’re aware of its existence, we want to go check it out!

P.S. We mentioned in Today's News over the weekend that today's QoD would be about Veterans Day specials, but we changed our mind and are listing offers in Today's News, as it's an organic process that we're adding to as we hear of more deals. So, keep checking the news for updates.

Update 29 January 2014
Here's an update, courtesy of an item we posted in "Today's News": January 29, 2014 11:30 Free Bingo Shake-Up: Commencing February, the rest of the Station Casino bingo rooms will follow GVR's lead and cease offering their early-morning free bingo sessions (see QoD 11/11/13); until further notice, "free' bingo will move to a 5 p.m. slot and will be open to Gold-level Boarding Pass members only. Since we penned that Question of the Day, Gold Coast also discontinued its free Saturday-morning sessions; South Point, Ellis Island, Jerry's Nugget, and Silver Nugget still offer their complimentary sessions (EI requires $20 in slot play the day prior, while the Silver Nugget sessions are for seniors only).
