Question of the Day - 16 March 2014

Q:
What is the Silverton doing? Their front parking lot is all dug up.
A:

It was just a little over a week ago that it was announced the Silverton would be adding a new 390-room hotel tower, scheduled for completion in 2016 (see Today's News). Unlike so many other stalled or dawdling projects of recent times, however, this one has not allowed any grass to grown under its feet: Construction on the extension is already underway! So, that's what you saw.

Although Silverton's tended to be a dynamic property that characteristically has experimented, tweaked, and upgraded its product over the years, it was as far back as 2007 when the last major makeover was announced. This comprised a massive $500 million investment that saw the first new hotel tower added, plus additional restaurants and bars and an expansion of the casino floor. As far as we know, the current plans are limited to the addition of more hotel rooms.
