Question of the Day - 27 May 2014

Q:
When can we expect another James Grosjean article? I really enjoy reading him and am disappointed to click on his blog and find the same entry continuing.
A:

When James decided he wanted to start blogging for us, we were very excited but it took longer than hoped to get his new blog off the ground -- he's very busy, we're juggling multiple projects, and these things just always seem to take longer than anticipated, finessing final touches and ironing out glitches. But back at the end of last October, we finally managed to get everything lined up and James started posting at Beyond Numbers, to a great response.

What makes James' blog particularly compelling, in our opinion, is that while his primary interest is in gambling expertise and advantage play, for which he justifiably is considered to be the leading authority in the world, he's just as inclined to share his thoughts about a gambling movie, or an annoying habit among fellow gamblers, or something controversial that a sports commentator may have said, and while his insights and knowledge may at times be too esoteric for the average player to apply, on the whole there are useful lessons and perspectives, applicable to life in general, for anyone to appreciate. He's a compelling and entertaining writer, as well as being an extremely erudite one, so don't think that you have to be a professional gambler, or even a gambler at all, to take away value from his words (a point born out by the multiple thousands of views his posts have been receiving to date).

Having never blogged before, at the outset James was feeling the lay of the land and wondering how often he should or could post. Obviously, he's an extremely busy individual who travels within the U.S. and internationally on a frequent basis, and he's involved in many projects. He was also concerned that he might run out of suitable material if he posted too often, so he set himself an initial goal of writing a new blog entry whenever the previous one had reached 1,000 views. So it continued for several months, and then there was an unfortunate confluence of circumstances, including a massive server move here, some technical issues with how certain aspects of James' blog specifically were functioning, and simultaneous outside projects that distracted both him and us.

However, we're happy to report that all those challenges are now behind us (with the exception of a couple of little nuances he'd like to add to finesse the user experience at Beyond Numbers, which we're working on, and to make up for lost time on May 15 he posted not one but a grand total of THREE new posts, all on different themes! We figure that should keep everyone entertained and informed for awhile, but the previous blogging rhythm should now be restored, so you can expect a return to regular posting from now on (occasional scheduling conflicts notwithstanding). James encourages reader interaction, too, so feel free to post comments and when a response is called for, he'll get back to you when his time permits.
