Question of the Day - 22 June 2014

Q:
I really enjoyed the excerpt from the Moneymaker book [QoD 6/15] and I wasn’t aware that you ran excerpts of your books on your website. Thank you for running it and I’d like to see more excerpts from the books that you think have the best or the most relevant information for us gambling types.
A:

You’re welcome and thank you for the kudos. We received several other thumbs-ups from QoDers who "discovered" the excerpt feature at ShopLVA.com for many of the books that we publish. As a result of the feedback, we’re experimenting with a new weekly QoD feature, which we’re calling Excerpt Sundays, in which we’ll spotlight content that’s new, cool, valuable, or relevant to something current from among the tens of thousands of book pages we’ve published over the past 20-plus years, as well as other good material that you don’t ordinarily see (for example, from the Las Vegas Advisor). Look for it every Sunday for the next little while, as we see how it goes.

This week’s "pick" is Blackjack Blueprint, the most comprehensive book ever written on the business side of playing blackjack for profit. It’s written by Rick Blaine, a former executive with a New York-based Fortune 500 company, who over the past 25 years has earned a seven-figure second income at blackjack tables around the world as a solo player, team member, and team leader.

We recently revised and expanded the book, but more important, we’ve never before run any excerpts from it, so all the text accessible from Blackjack Blueprint’s ShopLVA profile page is brand new for the taking -- just click the provided link to see the Table of Contents and Introduction. Plus, we’re also running Chapter 13, Interaction with Casino Personnel, which provides some basic information by describing the chain of command from dealers to casino managers and includes hosts, surveillance, and the cage, with a two-page treatment of tipping.

In addition, you can sample part of Chapter 27, Introduction to Team Play, which takes you to a more advanced level of profiting at blackjack.

Read all about high-stakes blackjack play and how to look and act the role of this select group of players from Chapter 35. Even if you never toss the cost of a Cadillac across the green felt, you can get a look of what it takes for professional 21 players to sell themselves as high rollers.

The revised edition contains valuable information from the perspective of a banking executive on personal-privacy issues in casinos, including mitigating your risk of identity theft by casino employees and protecting your financial privacy when making large cash transactions. We’re giving away this entire chapter, first because we think it’s so good and second because it gives you an excellent idea of the other new sections in the new edition: on high-level comps, such as getting reimbursed for airline tickets to casino destinations; along with negotiating rebates on gambling losses; hiding chips and disguising wins; and personal security while participating on high-level blackjack-related websites.

If you’re into blackjack, we believe you’ll want to take advantage of all the free info from Blackjack Blueprint available at ShopLVA.com.

And if you’re interested in pursuing the subject further, the 380-page book ($19.95 retail) is available from us for the special price of $9.98 (good for the next 30 days); the e-book from Kindle and Nook sells for $7.99 (you'll find direct links from the page on ShopLVA.com).
