Multiple inquiries to MGM about the baffles only yielded bafflement. So, we went to the source and had somewhat better luck. According to a Veer Tower staffer to whom we spoke, "some of them were being removed. We had some wind noise" from the panels, which extrude horizontally from Veer. "When the wind was blowing from the southwest, it was blowing across [the panels] and creating a vibrating noise," which our source described as "harmonics." The fins on the Helmut Jahn-designed towers were designed to help keep the sun out of Veer condo units and thus save electricity. However, it appears that some of them are proving to be more of a nuisance than an aid.
The two, 337-unit towers –- the only purely residential component of CityCenter – get their name from their opposing, five-degree lean. "Veer," geddit? It's like a double Leaning Tower of Pisa. They were originally (but not for long) called Sobella Residential but we think Veer is more appropriate, don’t you?
