Question of the Day - 05 October 2014

Q:
While on Fremont, I noticed Las Vegas Club didn’t douse the lights when the Fremont Street Experience show was performing and recalled that the owners in the past had been in arrears for payment to the FSE. Are there still problems between the two?
A:

There’s been one clash in the past. Fremont Street Experience (FSE) sued the Plaza Hotel & Casino and owner Tamares Group for not paying their electric bill. That was back on May 5, 2010. FSE claimed that Tamares Real Estate Investments was nearly a year in arrears and owed $429,990 and the Experience won a summary judgment on Nov. 1, 2011. Tamares paid a settlement whose amount was not disclosed at the time, although FSE Director of Marketing Thomas Bruny says the Experience was paid in full roughly two years ago and, in return, Tamares Group withdrew from the FSE.

"Fremont Street Experience continues to have a neighborly working relationship with Las Vegas Club and Plaza and there are no problems between Tamares and FSE," Bruny says.

"Yes, some lights at Las Vegas Club are on during Viva Vision shows that should not be. The exterior lights of properties along the four blocks under the canopy are linked to a control switch that allows Fremont Street Experience to turn off the lights during Viva Vision shows and then turn them back on again after the shows. Of course the reason is so that the visual focus is on the screen during the shows and that ambient lighting is dimmed," Bruny adds. "I will give you an update when our canopy technician and the Las Vegas Club engineering department determine what the problem is."
