Question of the Day - 26 December 2014

Q:
Your Hard Rock ownership answer on Dec. 8 did not mention Hard Rock Biloxi. Is that casino owned by the Seminoles? I was also surprised to see a failure to mention the large Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. What about the new Hard Rock in Tahoe?
A:

Hard Rock Biloxi has been purchased by Twin River Worldwide Holdings, owner of the eponymous, 4.538-slot casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The sale closed this past summer. Twin River is owned by a consortium of banks and investment funds that brought it out of bankruptcy in 2010. They license the Hard Rock name from Hard Rock International, an offshore corporation owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Hard Rock Sioux City, in Iowa, and Hard Rock Lake Tahoe, scheduled to open in January, sublicense the Hard Rock name through Warner Gaming, which runs both properties and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Repeated phone calls to Hard Rock Tulsa were not returned. However, as it is west of the Mississippi, it would have to lease the Hard Rock brand from the HRH LV, just like the Sioux City and Lake Tahoe casinos.
