Q:
Are there any places in Vegas where you can sit in front of a roaring fire?
A:
A timely question, with temperatures currently in the 40s here, and through the holidays you'll find fire pits/braziers at the skating rinks at Cosmopolitan and Caesars Palace, if you're looking to snuggle outside while enjoying a faux-snow flurry. Plus, pretty much any self-styled "tavern" or "lodge" in the valley comes equipped with a fireplace of some sort.
However, we figure you're looking for something a little special, so allow us to make a couple of suggestions. No doubt we're missing some ideas (with temperatures in the "unbearably hot" zone for much of the year, we confess that roaring fires and where to find them are not always uppermost in our thoughts!). Anyone who has a suggestion for an options we've missed, feel free to drop us a line; for now, here are our top ideas:
- The Peppermill: The "Fireside Lounge" component of this authentic '70s throwback, nestling by the Riviera on the Strip, is home to the Vegas fireplace experience to end them all, with its famous circular sunken fire pit area that lacks nothing aside, perhaps, from Joan Collins (click "Lounge" button for photo gallery).
- The Griffin: One of the pioneers of the Fremont East nightlife revival, this cozy lounge has a distinctly Medieval-European feel. While we feel less drawn to this place in the summer, in winter time the candles and red brick fire pit beckon to us like sirens and then hypnotize us into staying far longer than we'd intended to.
- If you're looking for an al fresco-fire experience, our suggestions would include Red Rock Resort, where there's a fire pit in the center of the pool, but also another one on the patio of T-Bones Chophouse while Dom Demarco's Pizzeria on the west side (9785 W. Charleston) has a huge central fireplace on the patio, lit seasonally as weather-appropriate. Hard Rock's Culinary Dropout, with its views overlooking the pool area, also has multiple outdoor fire pits for your dining comfort and pleasure.
- We got the sense from your email that your inquiry came with a view to snuggling up by a warm hearth, but just in case wild partying was on your flame-fueled agenda, note that you'll also find fireplaces at several nightclubs, including Chateau at Paris and Body English at the Hard Rock.
