Question of the Day - 20 February 2015

Q:
Are the popular mobile casino games (Caesars Casino, Mlife, Slotomania, etc.) regulated? Are they required to pay out a certain percentage of the time or can they make them as "tight" as they want, player beware?
A:

We’re afraid you’ve confused social-gaming applications (like MyVegas and Slotomania), which "pay" points and comps, with for-money, mobile-gaming devices. The latter are described in Nevada regulation as "a system for the accounting or management of any game in which the result of the wager is determined electronically by any combination of hardware or software or computers."

"Gaming devices" must have "a mathematically demonstrable percentage of all amounts which not be less than 75%," the same as slot machines. So, no, casino operators can’t exploit mobile gambling to take you to the cleaners.
