Question of the Day - 26 March 2015

Q:
I was hoping to avoid a long registration line for the new World Series of Poker Colossus event by pre-registering. Reading the info, however, it looks like you still need to stand in line to sign a release form and complete registration. Is there any way to avoid a long wait in line when flying in the night before?
A:

"It is true, we are encouraging folks to pre-register for the inaugural Colossus Event (May 29-30, 2015) as it will be the most popular event of the 2015 WSOP," says Seth Palansky, World Series of Poker vice president. "For those that do complete that process, they just have a very simple on-site requirement before beginning their play. They’ll go to a specially-designated information desk in the Rio Convention Center Rotunda area, where they will show their I.D. and in turn receive their receipt and seat card."

If you’re of the disposition to procrastinate, Caesars warns, "Play will begin on time as scheduled. Plan for lines and delays if you choose to register the day of the event." If you have pre-registered (which can also be done at the Rio’s main casino cage through May 26), report to the specially designated information desk in the Rio Convention Center Rotunda area, show your I.D. card, and you’ll receive your receipt and seat card. "This should all be accomplished in 30 seconds," Palansky says.

Starting May 27, a special WSOP cage in the Rio Convention Center will be open around the clock. The recommended time to register is between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Caesars Entertainment encourages players to register for all Colossus flights they wish to enter simultaneously, rather than one or two at a time. Refunds will not be processed until May 31, starting at 1 p.m. You will have to take your unused seat card, I.D., receipt and Total Rewards card to the WSOP Main Cage and queue up at the Payouts & Player Services Office on the Diamond/Seven Stars side of the cage.

Just don’t ask us to explain the rules of the Colossus, which is a five-day event with a $565 buy-in. Those are truly baroque …
