Chez Jillettes is a six-to-eight bedroom, 7,932-square-foot abode that was built in 1982 and then purchased and custom-modified to the larger-than-life magician's specifications back in the mid-'90s, as he and Teller commenced their long-running relationship with Las Vegas. What Penn affectionately terms "The Slammer" (for reasons which will soon become apparent, if you're not already au fait with this notorious domicile), sits on a six-acre lot, way out on the south-west side of town, and remains home to the headliner, his wife (a show producer), and their two children.
It was the austere east facade that formerly lived up to the deliberate "penitentiary" aesthetic, with its chain-link fence and OTT hi-tech security system that previously lived up to its nickname, the Slammer, in contrast to the whimsically colorful (so bright, you can see it from space! Well, at least from Google Earth...) "private" approach on the west side. There's nothing like a young family for shaking up the old bachelor pad, however, and the arrival of a wife and kids has had a notable "softening" effect on the exterior, as you can see from the "before-and-after" shots below.
Other highlights to this property include: A fully soundproofed recording studio; a 14-seat movie theater; prison-issue toilet fixtures; an outdoor catwalk connecting separate wings; multicolored Astroturf; and a pink fishpond. And while normally we would be deeply reticent about sharing a celebrity's private address, Penn's pad has been on the market on more than one occasion of late (last knowingly back in 2013, for $2.1 million), not to mention being featured on a number of home-makeover and other TV shows, and has had its address printed in a featured in the R-J. Plus, like we said, you can practically see the place from space, so we don't feel as if we're betraying any confidence by directing you toward 7601 W. Wigwam Ave., 89113, although it goes without saying that we implore any curious members of the public to respect the family's privacy and leave the paparazzi lenses at home. Remember: The owner of this house is almost certainly a lot bigger than you are.
