The Clark County Building Department confirms that Harrah’s has indeed applied for a permit "but it is not public knowledge until it is issued." We tried Caesars Entertainment’s corporate PR department and got no response whatsoever. So we tried a reservationist at Harrah’s Las Vegas, who said that renovations are planned but there’s no timeline for them yet and, whenever they happen, it will be after October. (Harrah’s is one of the casinos affected by Caesars’ bankruptcy, which may account for the uncertainty about what will happen and when.) We don’t know if this makes you more or less eager to stay at Harrah’s but if you do opt to stay there on your October trip, it will still be the same old hotel-casino that you know.
