This made us smile, but we receive similar queries with enough regularity that we figured we'd take this opportunity to put straight everyone who's confused.
The daily email that we send out is basically a courtesy correspondence that reminds you to check your favorite daily dose of Vegas info. and informs you you what the query is about for that day, just in case it's something you have no interest in (although from our own experience writing them, sometimes what seems like it might be a dull subject ends up having a surprising twist or facet to it), plus it also provides a handy link direct to the answer (and a reminder of the current Reader Poll and other timely info, like a link to the chosen "Deal of the Day".)
However, "Question of the Day" posts to the exact same page on our site each day -- www.lasvegasadvisor.com/qod.cfm -- and each different Q&A only receives a unique url once it's archived. For example: The previous link is where you read Saturday's "QoD" about the Simpsons House; only now that this question resides in the archives does it exist on its own unique page, at lasvegasadvisor.com/articles/QofDay2secure.cfm?QID=3660.
In other words, you can click the link in ANY daily QoD email and it'll take you to whatever question is live during that 24-hour period. Try clicking the link in an old QoD email you haven't deleted and you'll see that is sends you right back here, regardless of what that day's question was about.
The same goes for those readers who write in, or call us in a panic, on account of the fact they're no longer receiving the daily QoD email -- perhaps because they've changed email address, or have a new "spam" blocker that doesn't recognize us as friendly, or because they've accidentally unsubscribed or -- heaven forfend! -- reported us as spam. Simply because they didn't get the email, these people are often under the misconception that we've stopped posting QoDs, or that they are now powerless to read them, when in fact there's a permanent link on our home page, under the middle "Features" column, that'll take you right to it anytime, with or without a daily email! (NOTE: If you do unsubscribe from any of our emails by mistake, there's an option to subscribe again at the top of the QoD, or let us know and we'll manually put you back in the system; should you report us as spam, however, you can't ever sign up with that same address again -- our email provider is very conscious of not wanting to spam anyone, so if you tell it you don't want to hear from us anymore it takes that request seriously and won't let you sign up again unless you use a different email address, so take care next time you're clearing out old emails and be sure to simply delete, as opposed to unsubcribing or hitting "spam.")
We know our readers are spread out all over the nation, so a good while ago we opted for 4 a.m. Vegas time as a good hour to send out the daily email reminder, since we figure that means it'll be pretty near to the top of your "in" box in the morning wherever you are and no one should have to wade through too many other emails to find it. When we recently second-guessed ourselves and tried sending it out at 7 a.m. PST instead, we received lots of complaints from people who thought we'd axed the feature altogether or who, like yourself, thought that meant that the question was being posted later and that they wouldn't have a chance to read it before work. So we quickly reverted back to the 4 a.m. send-out time. But regardless of when we send the email, or whether or not you receive it, you'll always find the current "Question of the Day" right here!
