After a more than year-long licensing saga (just search Today's News Archives using keyword "Uber" for details), which appeared to see Uber as the front runner in Nevada, with a much larger driver presence and less last-minute regulatory red tape to overcome, rival ride-share service Lyft actually pipped Uber to the post as far as obtaining permission to operate out of McCarran is concerned. Legitimate service at the airport commenced October 26, giving Lyft one of its most high-profile launches to date. (In an official statement to website TechCrunch.com, Uber said that it's "continuing a thorough process with Airport Officials" and that its priority "is to reach a resolution that ensures rider and driver safety along with the best user experience, as quickly as possible.")
Meanwhile, if you're happy to use the alternative ride-hailing service, Lyft is offering customers an introductory $5-off discount for two separate rides, either to or from the airport, through April 20, 2016 (use code FLYLAS to redeem the offer when booking the ride). Simply download the Lyft app to your Apple or Android device, as applicable, to get signed up and then check out this link for details of ride-share pick-up locations for Terminals 1 and 3 on McCarran's official website.
