We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday - we have much to be thankful for, including all of the loyal readers who help to keep this column going via the interesting questions you submit and the helpful tidbits, corrections, personal experiences, and additional information and photographs you send us on a regular basis. It all helps to make Question of the Day what it is.
And the same goes for our regular Reader Polls. When we first introduced them, back in 2007, there was some initial push back from people outraged at the "loss" of a couple of QoDs per month; but then everyone seemed not only to be used to the concept, but to relish the opportunity to air their views, and since those early days you've helped us to be build an invaluable archive of opinions on subjects as diverse as resort fees; comps; online gaming; parking charges; panhandlers; hangover remedies; cocktail-waitress uniforms; burgers, buffets, and BBQ -- and a LOT more besides (the current one's all about traveling with your pet - or not). We only wish that more attention were paid to your feedback by the "powers that be," but you never know who's reading and we do have empirical evidence of your voices having a direct effect, so keep those votes and emails coming!
