Question of the Day - 19 September 2016

Q:
I have always enjoyed staying at Hotel32 on top of the Monte Carlo. How much longer will they be functioning before the space is remodeled and Hotel32 is gone for good?
A:

We're not surprised to hear about your positive experience at Hotel32.

This hotel-within-in-a-hotel occupies the top (32nd) floor of the Monte Carlo casino resort, with just 50 rooms, suites, and apartment-like lofts. Opened in 2008 after a fire damaged the top six floors and roof of the Monte Carlo, Hotel32 has a dedicated bell staff, semi-private elevators, its own on-floor concierges (called "suite assistants"), private check-in and check-out, and a private lounge that serves drinks (including wine and cocktails), breakfast, snacks, and evening hors d’oeuvres, all free.

Although we covered the Monte Carlo reinvention extensively in a previous Question of Day (July 1, 2016), little is known in terms of specifics. MGM Resorts International has been playing its cards close to the vest, discussing the new-look Monte Carlo (to be called Park MGM) only in the broadest of terms.

When we asked about Hotel32 specifically, we were told, "We’re defining construction schedules now, as we continue the design process, and hope to share details in the months ahead." Translation: MGM doesn't know for certain at this point.

Our best conjecture is that Hotel32 will be converted into part of the exclusive 292-room NoMad Hotel. All we know so far about the NoMad is that it will have its own drop-off area, swimming pool, and casino, among other amenities.

We rang up NoMad’s developer, the Sydell Group, but its spokesperson was out for the week and unavailable for comment. We will provide more details of the Monte Carlo/Park MGM project as they become available to us.
