Question of the Day 2016-10-06

Now that Nevada Gaming Commission approved the licenses for Stations and Boyd for Palms and Aliante, respectively, how long do you think it will be before Boarding Pass and B Connected systems are implemented?

We asked Jean Scott for her opinion on the subject and initially, she answered, "I don’t think 'I have no idea' makes for much of an answer. I have too much experience to try and predict what casinos will do!"

Of course, we pressed her and then she provided the following.

"I’m trying to think of another example of a casino that was folded into a bigger company and how long it took to incorporate the players club, but my memory's not as good as it used to be.

"I usually tell my readers not to waste time or effort pondering future changes and just to wait and see.

"That said, since both Aliante and the Palms are locals casinos, I'd guess that Station and Boyd would want to avoid any PR problems and make sure no value is lost in the transitions.

"My best guess is that the changes will be fairly quick, probably within a month, since Station and Boyd have had a lot of time for pre-planning these moves.

"Of course, if you have a lot of players club points, whether good for free play or comps, and you're worried about losing them, you might want to use them or cash them in now."

A few days after sending us the above, Jean received a form letter from the new General Manager of the Palms. Here's what she wrote about that.

"The new Station Casinos executive writes that the Palms will transition from Club Palms to Station's Boarding Pass system by November 1, so my prediction of around a month was accurate. Existing Palms points will be incorporated into the new players club. Players need to keep both cards and carry them into the casino during October until the transition is complete.

"I highly recommend that players watch the transition carefully to make sure that all their points move over smoothly and successfully.

"As for Aliante, I received a welcome letter from Boyd, but it didn't contain any details about changes to the players club system. However, I expect it will be a similar situation to that at the Palms."
