No, we haven't covered Palace Station's renovation previously.
According to Deutsche Bank analyst Carlo Santarelli, the oldest parts of the property are being demolished as part of a $115 million upgrade. Although Station management claims not to be seeing any inroads being made into Palace Station's market by the recent arrival of the nearby Lucky Dragon Casino, it’s always a good idea to keep up with the Joneses (or, in this case, Lucky Dragon owner Andrew Fonfa).
Station spokeswoman Lori Nelson told LVA, "We are in the process of building out the new bingo room and have been actively working on the upgrades to the casino façade, which includes the addition of a porte cochere (facing Sahara Avenue). Additionally, we're in the midst of upgrading all of the property's landscaping."
According to an article in the Las Vegas Business Press, the new bingo room will be nearly 10,000 square feet and there'll be a new buffet room and two new restaurants. In addition, the casino will be expanded by 33,000 square feet.
Future developments, for which Station has sought approval include "potential future phases that may include new hotel rooms [a 27-story 600-room tower is planned], meeting and convention space, a pool deck, more surface parking, a new central utility plant, and a potential bowling alley and/or movie theatre."
