As always, it depends on the casino.
Some joints take winners in stride, even when someone wins twice in quick succession on the same machine. Others are notorious "sweat shops" that can’t stand to see anyone win even one little bet.
It’s amazing how paranoid some casinos can get about "winners" – even short-term ones on slot machines. We’ve known of cases where someone hit a big slot jackpot (not even video poker) or won a big drawing and then been "no-mailed" or put on the "DNI" (Do Not Invite) list.
True, other circumstances might have been considered — for example, past heavy video poker on good machines. When a friend of LVA was DNIed at Stations years ago, it was right after he hit a $32,000 VP jackpot. Likewise, it’s fairly common knowledge that VP players in various casinos are no-mailed after hitting a big jackpot, sometimes even when it’s dealt – as if they used skill to do that! We’ve heard from reliable sources that that happened to a player at the Wynn who was dealt a royal on a high-denomination video poker machine.
Locals casinos seem to be getting more aggressive against "advantage players," whether they have a real edge or not.
The DNI tag is specific to Station Casinos, but others flag in various ways. In some, it usually means no monthly mailers. Local players of our acquaintance have been no-mailed temporarily, perhaps for just a month, after winning during the previous qualification period, though they weren’t permanently no-mailed. Others go a little further in cutting players off from promos, like multiple points.
There has been quite a bit discussion on vpFREE about using modified strategies to avoid hitting too many royals. One advantage VP player told us he’d quit playing before he’d do that. Still, those few big players who want or need to play full-time are trying to figure out all kinds of ways to avoid being no-mailed.
As for players who hit jackpots being suspected of cheating, that’s another story. But what you call "computer nonsense" might not be so nonsensical after all.
